In the podcast below by Dr. Bruce Ames, his opening sentence apply states that nutritional deficiency is a major factor in acceleration of aging and shortening of your healthy life span. His first slide is the biochemical processes of our metabolism. The audience break into a spontaneous laughter, at the Overwhelming complexity of it all, the vast number of micronutrients, minerals, fats and vitamins we need to run all the processes. Where does one begin? There are so many variables to consider. Family history, medical history, symptom complaints and genetics and life style to name a few. 

The list below are some bear bone basics supplements to help support our general health for an adult with no apparent health issues.   

  • Vitamin D3 5000 IU a day to adjust accordingly based on vitamin D blood test. In pandemic time, optimal level is 60 to 65 ng/ml.   
  • Vitamin B complex, including folate and not just folic acid with Breakfast.  
  • Vitamin C 1000 to 3000 mg
    Calcium 1000 mg with food per day.  
  • Vitamin E 400 mg per day with food.  
  • Vitamin k 2, 150 MCG per day.   
  • A quality fish oil 1000 mg to 4000 mg per day with food.  
  • Co Q10 100 mg to 300 mg per day
  • Zinc 30 to 50 mg per day 
  • Magnesium glycinate 300 mg three times a day 
  • Selenium  
  • Chromium  

Then there are specific supplements for different chronic conditions. There are supplements to boost one’s mitochondrial function, brain functions, immune function, muscle, bones, lungs, bowel or kidney functions. The choices are out there and so are the potential healing powers.   

The supplements that I take have played a significant role in my recovery of some most difficult symptoms and diagnosis like cancer, auto immune thyroiditis, brain fog, fibromyalgia, chronic and recalcitrante infections.  I now live a magnificent live full of energy and disease free! 

The downside is that I’m still having to take lots of supplements for dividends and insurance?   

Supplements, I consider them a necessary trade-off for health for vitality.
